This past weekend kicked off our busy wedding season…. And what a kick off it was! Aarika Woods (now Aarika Johnson!) came to us this past fall looking for someone to help her with her day of planning & rentals. She is such a sweet girl & knew exactly what she wanted which certainly made life easier for us!
Aarika chose the Clevedale Inn for her ceremony & reception. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! She envisioned a “garden party” style. Black, white, ivory & the natural elements that Clevedale provided really set the tone. We were so swamped all day that I failed to get the pictures that I wanted; however, I am absolutely positive that Hannah Woodard Photography got all the shots – I can wait to see the moments she captured. The vendors we worked alongside were great! Just want to give a big thank you to Hannah of course, videography by Jason Ayers, florals by Sandy’s Creations, Cake & Cupcakes by Cakehead Bakeshop in Spartanburg, Hex Tents were provided by Professional Party Rentals (there was some doubt that we would make those tents work in the designated space but with some teamwork & sheer determination we got those babies up! So huge thank you to them). Berbank provided the tent draping, lighting, linens & other rentals. It was a perfect Spring day for a perfect wedding.
Below are some highlights (taken from my beat up I phone but I just can't wait for the professional ones!)
Aside from our selection of items for rental, Berbank also has a gift shop full of pewter items. With a wide selection of items and varying prices, you are sure to find a lovely gift for your mom, daughter, sister, or friend! Not many people know that we have a pewter selection here at Berbank so be sure to check it out! We have been working on updating our website with new pictures of all of our pewter items so look under the pewter link on our website to see what is available. Pewter is not a lost art--we haven't given up on it! And for you bargain hunters out there, we even have a sale rack with unique and very slightly scratched items marked down to a low price. They were perfect for Christmas presents and can also be great for weddings, showers, birthdays, or just for yourself as a treat (come on, you deserve it). And if pewter isn't for you, we also have jewelry available from Tina's Handmade Jewelry and Accessories!
More so, the showroom is full of large-sized pewter platters and bowls available for rent for your next event. So, whether you're looking to buy or rent, we've got pewter, pewter, and more pewter! Perfect for a spring or summer wedding!
Yes, it's that time of year. Christmas and New Year's Eve are over and it's time to put away the holiday decorations. Springtime is almost here! Since Monday, we've been packing up our Christmas decòr here at Berbank (what a job, right?). The showroom has been transitioned into spring mode with colors like coral, tiffany blue, and cobalt blue. So, if you need some inspiration for a spring wedding or event, come on over! From a rustic picnic style table to an elegant formal dinner table with gold chairs--we've got plenty of ideas to spark your creative side.
Our wall and bench set has been placed in the center of the showroom and is covered in burlap and coral. With covers available in colors like tiffany blue and white, this set is perfect for your next event! The top of the wall has a container that can be filled with anything from flowers to candles to pictures. You can get creative with this piece! A recent wedding even used them in a different arrangement for a new look. So, break out your thinking cap and get ready for springtime with us!
So you are engaged! Congratulations! It really is an exciting time. I do hear from brides quite often that they are just "ready for it to be over." And I completely understand it. You've spent hours on Pinterest pinning your life away and you are probably just overwhelmed. There are so many ideas & decisions to make that in the beginning especially, you find it extremely difficult to get anywhere with the planning process because you keep changing your mind. Simply due to the massive amount of "new" ideas on Pinterest or Instagram.
Even worse, you find the most beautiful image in the world and then you send to it to your florist to get priced & realize that it cost $5,000 to re-create that concept. What a bummer. Now don't get me wrong - I would be an absolute liar if I said I don't get inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram, Blogs, etc. I would be just plain bad at my job if that were the case. But I do feel that as a new bride all the possibilities can be downright frustrating.
So, I'm just throwing this idea out there - what if you take a break from scrolling and look for inspiration in items that are close to you or that mean something special. Such as a cool accessory, broach, or even shoes! I love, love, love when people bring an heirloom from home & then we run around the shop finding things that will compliment it. What fun that can be!
While Pinterest is an amazing marketing tool, inspiration builder, teacher etc, I think we should all step back from the computer and say to ourselves, what do I truly like??
I won't lie - I've been putting this off. Mostly because I can't seem to find a happy place between a nicely written work blog & a personal blog. I feel confident that if I make it mostly work related you won't come back. But I've been afraid to do somewhat personal because I have a hard time not saying inappropriate things. But I'm going to try and do both anyways (which I know is frowned upon in the professional world but I'm willing to take the risk).
I am going to do my best to write at least once a week about something fairly interesting. Whether it be tips for the bride, stories about my crazy family or to showcase a recent event I'll be posting away, so check back often!
I'll start with this past weekend. The team split up sending one crew to Cartersville, GA to run a Family Fun Day for a corporation while the other crew enjoyed the beautiful view of Lake Keowee while stringing 5,000 mini lights in a clear top tent that basically felt like a greenhouse in the bright hot sun. You just have to love out of town events because it really doesn't matter how many list you make and check off, you are bound to forget something! This time it was not the big ladder, we remembered that guy. But the small ladder that allowed us to do things like hanging drapes.. now that was a different story. This gave me the opportunity to relive my cheerleading days..... here we are:
The strange guy holding me up is my husband... I had no idea he was taking these pictures. This could have been a slightly embarrassing moment for us but thankfully no other vendors were there at 8:00am. We installed lights, drapes, chandeliers, provided our really cool tree stump bar and then spiced it up with sequin runners, copper lanterns, and lots of candles! It turned out simply stunning. The Lakehouse at the Cliff's Communities is a great venue! And we could not have ordered more perfect weather. This wedding was especially important to me as it was my brother in laws. Rachel (the new sister in law) and I worked together for quite a while & I think we pulled off her vision quite well! It was a nice mix of rustic, yet elegant. These pictures are just from my I Phone - I'll be sure to track down the photographer and post the official ones later on! I also failed to get any of the couple! Shame on me! They of course were gorgeous, as always!
A big thank you to all the awesome vendors we worked with!
